Śmierć Smith’a, niewątpliwie jednego z najlepszych gaijinów obecnie w Japonii wstrząsnęła całym światem. Mark miał 38 lat.

Zaraz po śmierci WWC zamieściło na swojej stronie na facebooku krótkie oświadczenie:
Lamentamos informar que El Búfalo Bison Smith acaba de fallecer en el Hospital Regional de Carolina debido a complicaciones cardiacas.

Nuestro más sentido pésame a su familia.
